Personal Auto

A personal auto policy may be written to cover private passenger autos, pickup trucks, vans, and trailers.  Motorcycles, motorhomes, golfcarts, snowmobiles, and ATV's may require a form of the personal auto policy also.

The following are some definitions of coverages, for your information. If a policy is written, the policy from the insurance company will govern all transactions.

Bodily Injury: Includes coverage up to the policy limits in thousands of dollars per person/per occurrence to others due to an auto accident that the insured is responsible for. This coverage means bodily harm, sickness or disease, including death, that results from an auto accident.

Property Damage: Includes coverage up to the policy limits for damage of property to others due to an auto accident that the insured is responsible for. This coverage means physical injury to, destruction of or loss of use of tangible property.

Medical Payments: Includes reasonable expenses incurred for  necessary medical and funeral services as a result of an auto accident. This covers the named insured, any family member, and any other person while 'occupying' your motor vehicle which is 'designed for use mainly on public roads' and/or if struck as a pedestrian. This coverage applies per person, regardless of fault. The policy should be reviewed to determine if this coverage is primary or excess over other medical insurance.

Uninsured Motorist: Arizona state law requires insurance coverage on all vehicles, however, there are those that ignore the law. This coverage pays for bodily injury and economic loss only caused by an 'uninsured motor vehicle'. The coverage extends to the named insured, family members, and any other person occupying the covered vehicle.

Underinsured Motorist: This coverage pays for bodily injury caused by an 'underinsured motor vehicle' because the 'at fault' insured's insurance limits are not adequate to cover the necessary medical expenses and other economic losses. The coverage extends to the named insured, family members, and any other person occupying the covered vehicle up to the limits of your policy.

Comprehensive: This coverage provides for loss incurred to the insured's vehicle by other than collision, such as fire, theft, hail, water, or flood. The deductible, as stated in the policy, applies.

Collision: This coverage provides for loss incurred to the insured's vehicle due to collision with another vehicle or object. The deductible, as stated in the policy, applies.

The above definitions are for informational purposes only. The exact provisions governing the insurance contract are contained in the issued policy and should be read carefully.
